My yoga journey began in March 2015. I was 29 and like many people, I was stressed, in pain, and unknowingly walking through life half-blind. The physical practice of yoga left me feeling an calm–but a calm with…energy– that I hadn’t felt before, and I was hooked. I would soon discover the other limbs of yoga and their power, too.
It didn’t take me long however to find that yoga was making a lot of my pain even worse. That’s when I found out about hypermobility, and that led me into the world of Applied Neurology. Once I combined the transformative practice of yoga with what I learned about hypermobility and the brain, I knew there was no looking back.
I hope that in some way or another, every person can find the inner peace I have found through yoga. Not happiness, not constant positivity, because life doesn't exist without sadness or shadow. But there is peace to be found, and I believe mindful movement is a powerful tool to find that peace.

My personal movement practice, as well as how I teach, is greatly inspired by my education in neurology. This means that there are some pretty unusual additions to my classes, but they are rooted in what we know about the importance of areas of the brain that help us move better (and therefore feel better), such as the vestibular system, the visual system, the cerebellum, and the brainstem.
If you want to know more about that, check out the Applied Neurology section of my website!

I grew up in Mississippi, USA, but since 2005 I’ve lived mostly in the UK. You can read more about my background in the about section.

I’m so glad you asked! Learning even a little bit about the nervous system can be life-changing, no exaggeration. It certainly changed my life, and continues to.
You can find out more about how I apply neurology to moving better, feeling better, getting out of pain, and standing out as a movement professional here.

Item descriptHell no! A lot of my students are in their 40s and 50s, and I’ve even taught a woman in her 70s how to cartwheel!
As someone in her 40s learning how to do advanced skills like one arm handstand, stalder press, and Mexican handstand, you better believe I will be your cheerleader from your first ever handstand onwards, no matter your age or your background. ion
