Most people miss this in their movement practice

"Brainy What-Why-How"

Your weekly nibble of science-backed goodness to help you move better and feel unstoppable.

🧠

What (the TL:DR)

I used to think that getting into a pose, or being able to complete the set of reps, meant I mastered it.

But I've learned that real movement swagger (i.e. what's actually functional) is:

- being able to get there

- come back the same way

- pause halfway towards the pose

- change directions half way

- (and do it all with a smile* 😊)

Why (the geeky neurology)

Because your body (ahem...more precisely: your brain) needs options, not just destinations.

Move one way at one speed--like moving into eagle pose--and congrats, you’re only good at that.

But train stopping, reversing, speeding up, slowing down?

You become the kind of human who can handle surprise plot twists—on the mat and in life.

How (apply it to your life)

In my new Move with Adell class, we:

🔄 Go to eagle pose and back again

🛑 But we also stop halfway and flirt with gravity

✴️ and to make sure our muscles (ahem...brain) know how to be in control 50% or 60% towards eagle pose, and not just at the full 100% leg wrap.

It’s like teaching your nervous system to keep its cool when life throws a curveball—and to do it with style (and it'll fire up your leg muscles like nothing else 😉).
