This Is Why You Keep Starting Over (Copy)

"Brainy What-Why-How"

Your weekly nibble of science-backed goodness to help you move better and feel unstoppable.

🧠

What (the TL:DR)

Wobbly? You’re using the wrong 90% of your brain.

For better balance, move the other side of your body.

Yep — your “wobbly left leg” might be waiting for your right wrist to do something about it.

Why (the geeky neurology)

Movement is about so much more than what you think about doing.

Your conscious effort — the “I’m holding Warrior 3 and dying” part — is only about 10% of what’s happening.

The other 90% is your brain doing sneaky behind-the-scenes work to keep you upright.

Here’s the nerdy magic:

🧠 Your left motor cortex moves the right side of your body (that’s the voluntary bit).

🧠 It also sends signals down the left brainstem to stabilise your left side (the reflexive bit).

So when you move your right wrist, ankle, or whatever — your brain fires up more reflexive stability on the left.

Translation: circling one wrist = steadier balance on the opposite leg.

Neurology is so fun 🤓

...And doesn't life work the same way?

You can't always fix the wobble by staring at the wobble.

Sometimes stability comes from somewhere unexpected -- the other side, the parts of you you've been ignoring.

Shift one thing and everything else reorganises around it 💞 (⬅️ my life lately)

How (apply it to your life)

Try this little experiment:

1️⃣ Balance on one foot (Warrior 3, single-leg deadlift, or just… stand there like a flamingo🦩 ).

2️⃣ Take note of your wobble time.

3️⃣ Now try again, but make slow, deliberate circles or figure-8s with your opposite wrist while you balance.

4️⃣ Feel steadier? That’s your nervous system showing off

...and a reminder that change doesn't always come where you'd expect it.

ALSO 🎉 Big news: Move With Adell got an upgrade!

You can now access stand-alone drills without doing a full yoga flow — perfect for quick fixes like this.

This month we’re training reflexive stability in handstands (translation: less flailing, more flying).

Your first week’s free — and psst, something big is coming in January 👀

If you try this, I would LOVE to know if it helped or if you found no difference -- get in touch and let me know? 💓

Stay wobbly (but like… on purpose),
