The advice I wish I could BAN FOREVER

"Brainy What-Why-How"

Your weekly nibble of science-backed goodness to help you move better and feel unstoppable.

🧠

What (the TL:DR)

This past week alone, I’ve heard:

  • physio say nerve flossing is only good for pain relief.

  • doctor tell their patient to “just stop putting your arm overhead” (as if that’s a life plan).

  • trainer agree someone “wasn’t strong enough” to lift heavier.

  • yoga teacher swear she’d never do handstands because of chronic elbow pain.

Every time I thought: Oh, bless… people really need a crash course in the nervous system.

Because guess what?

Not. One. Of. These. Is. True.

Why (the geeky neurology)

Applied neurology is like that cool kid no one invited to the party...but who secretly knows all the moves 💃

Whether it’s because it’s a baby science, "too" complex, or because old-school training ignores it, most body pros are missing out. Big time.

Since diving into neurology in 2020, I see things differently:

- Nerves are the hotline between your body and brain. Tune them up and you reduce pain, but also boost strength, flexibility, balance, coordination—even rest 💪

- Nothing is “set in stone.” The brain is ENDLESSLY adapting. If it hurts and you stop doing it, you’re teaching your body to never do it again 😱

- Your nervous system puts up “perceived threat” speed bumps. Reduce the threat and suddenly you’re lifting heavier, bending deeper, living freer.

- Pain is your brain saying, “Something’s off.” Chronic pain? Sometimes it’s just your brain’s drama habit. You can retrain it.

How (apply it to your life)

My next Applied Neurology training is where you’ll learn how to turn “ouch” into “oh hey!”

I won’t pretend I’m the only one teaching this, but hey I gotta shoot my shot 😃

If you enjoy these cheeky little emails, why not hang out with me and go deeper?

It started for yoga teachers. Now it’s a full-on movement free-for-all.

Got brain-body mysteries? Spill ‘em! I’m all ears (and nerves),
