The importance of training accuracy

"Brainy What-Why-How"

Your weekly nibble of science-backed goodness to help you move better and feel unstoppable.

🧠

What (the TL:DR)

One aspect of moving well is moving with accuracy.

Your cerebellum is in charge of accuracy and like anything you can train it!

Why (the geeky neurology)

It’s one of those things we probably take for granted:

you reach for your coffee cup and your hand accurately extends to the handle of the mug, ☕️ or

you go to pick your nose and your finger accurately ****makes it into the intended nostril. 👉👃

Don’t you think it would be a total drag if every time you went to pick something up, you missed?

Or if you were trying to squish a roach under your foot (hey…what about ahimsa?…tsk tsk) your foot didn’t land on the targeted creepy insect 🪳

A lack of accuracy can indicate a cerebellar issue — which may also come with balance problems, coordination difficulties, and more things that can make movement feel more difficult than it needs to!

How (apply it to your life)

How does this fit into your movement?

Well, like anything, you don’t have to wait until you have a severe problem with something before you train it and make it better, and gain other benefits doing so!

So, to begin, just giving yourself little accuracy challenges can help activate the cerebellum and train the skill of accuracy. The new Move With Adell class — Warming Backbendy Flow for Glutes & Accuracy — will give you a chance to try just that!
