What (the TL:DR)

Whether you like it or not, you are doing "brain drills" and practising neurology based concepts RIGHT NOW as you read this.

Why (the geeky neurology)

Our nervous system is constantly adapting to the environment it's in, and so:

whatever you're doing, thinking, feeling...

you're getting better at it.

However you're sitting, however you're breathing, however aware or unaware you are of your internal environment...

you're getting better at that.

Our nervous system runs on patterns, so every time you do something, you're weaving another thread into that pattern.

(Literally the myelin around your neurons becomes fatter so electricity can pass through it quicker, faster, and more efficiently.)

How (apply it to your life)

Remember that your nervous system doesn't just adapt in ways you want it to.

It can adapt to shitty things too.

Examples:

Pay attention to patterns in your thoughts, behaviours, movements, that aren't helpful.

Awareness brings change.

Once you're aware, you get to jump into the driver's seat and begin to re-write those patterns!
